New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corporation…
Operates a comprehensive educational program at nineteen sites which includes 13 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 2 high schools, an area vocational school, an adult learning center, and alternative school programs. Here, it’s all about relationships. Learning hinges upon the relationship of teacher and student, parent and child, community and school. The seventeenth largest school district in the state, the NA-FC School Corporation has an enrollment of 11,953 students and is the largest employer in Floyd County. The New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corporation is a combination of diversity and determination, connecting children, teachers and the community in a life-long quest for excellence. The vision of the NA-FC School Corporation states that the Corporation “provides each child with an outstanding education in a safe, nurturing environment where all are challenged to reach their maximum potential, as respectful, responsible, contributing members of a diverse society.” The board of trustees and all administrators are committed to providing equitable, updated facilities for student learning. Recently, the public accepted a $59 million renovation plan for Floyd Central High School. In fact, over the past ten years many schools have undergone major renovations, making most schools in the corporation state of the art institutions. Interested citizens may choose to be active as volunteers in the schools, as members of special advisory boards, or members of strategic planning committees. A Parent Council, a Community Council, and a Diversity Advisory Board meet regularly with school board members and administration to promote an open line of communication, provide suggestions and information, and impact major directions and projects central to the operation of the school corporation. The schools are engaged in numerous successful partnerships with the business community and maintain a high level of participation in community service organizations, volunteerism, and service learning activities to promote student understanding of civic and community affairs. New Albany-Floyd County Schools continue to be recognized on local, state and national levels for a wide variety of outstanding accomplishments of individuals, groups, and programs.
