Location:
New Albany is located at approximately the midpoint on Indiana's southern boundary, the Ohio River. She sits in a cluster of three cities, which includes Clarksville and Jeffersonville. Louisville, Kentucky, the main city in the metropolitan area of about one million, is directly across the river. Distances to nearby major cities are: Lexington, 70 miles; Cincinnati, 105 miles; Indianapolis, 110 miles; Nashville, 180 miles; St. Louis, 250 miles; and Chicago, 290 miles.

  OTHER FACILITIES - Ten major hospitals in the metropolitan area offer such services as hand and general microsurgery, a certified trauma canter, organ transplants, specialized pediatric care and complete heart care. All facilities can be reached within fifteen minutes. In addition, Floyd County offers paramedic ambulance service, three intermediate and skilled nursing homes, three retirement homes and a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center

Recreation:
Eight city parks and five county parks provide more than 400 acres of recreational facilities, including a municipal swimming pool. In addition, there are ten supervised playgrounds with programs administered by a full-time recreational director. Golfers can enjoy the Valley View Golf Club, a municipally-owned, regulation 18-hold golf course. Private recreational opportunities are offered through two swimming clubs, the Woodland Hills Recreation Club and the New Albany Country Club with a nine-hole golf course and pool.
